What's this all about?
The SceneCON 2009 is a demoscene party, which is practically a meeting of a underground computer art community known
as the demoscene. For more information about the demoscene itself, read the appropriate
Wikipedia article. With SceneCON, we aim to follow the two decade old tradition of demoscene parties in Hungary,
a bit differently though, than other parties did before. But anything we'd say, won't explain it. Visit us, experience
it yourself!
Some other international demoscene releated pages we recommend:
Party Features
- Quality bigscreens. Yes, several. More than 10000 ANSI lumens of total beamer capacity. That is at least three times more any other
Hungarian party had in the last decade, and probably more than any Hungarian party ever had.
- Audio systems that match the quality of the beamers.
- Demoscene competitions with annoyingly great prizes.
- Fun competitions for the brave. Ever wanted to sing demo soundtracks? You dance when you hear Second Reality? Don't miss these compos then.
- Live stream coverage. If you can't attend, let us visit your screen!
- A Console Corner. Jump in, and play a round to relax between creating two parts for your demo.
- A Beer Garden. We hereby unofficially announce the officially unofficial "BoozeCON". Demoscene passivists, here you go!
- A Buffet, with great selection of food and drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
What to bring to the party?
- Yourself, obviously. (And you can try to get more people with you. :)
- Your entry to any of the compo categories (optional, but recommended).
- Also optional, but your computer. Or any other electronic device - be it either from the last millenium or high-end -
which might gain the interest of others.
- If you're going to have your computer with you, don't forget to bring a power strip, and if you want to connect to
the wired LAN, a UTP cable as well. (There will be Wi-Fi as well.)
- Enough money
The party rules
- Smoking is only allowed outside the building, and in the garden! Smoke might set off the built-in firealarm system, and that's
really something you not want to happen...
- Drinking alcoholic drinks is allowed, but please, drink only a reasonable amount. Drinking too much alcohol
could ruin your and other people's party as well. If you misbehave, insult other people, damage the equipment or
the building you will be thrown out of the party immediately, without any prior warning.
- Consuming other drugs or even getting them to the party area is strictly forbidden, and will result in an
immediate ban from the current and any future SceneCON parties. No prior warnings. Just respect Hungarian law,
and you won't have troubles.
- Using the partynetwork is free of charge, and there's no registration. However, we'll monitor the traffic on the network.
If your activities on the network offend anyone, or violate some law, you'll be removed first from the network, then from the party as well.
Enhancing your monthly download rate at the party also count as offending activities. Don't do it. By connecting to the network,
you also accept its rules.
- The relationship with Csokonai Cultural Centre is one of the oldest relationships the Hungarian demoscene has with a
partyplace. Please respect this two decade old tradition and pay a bit of attention to not damage the building.
Any damage caused has to be paid by the offender! If we can't find the offender, that might be very harmful for the
prizes we give out, and might cancel future SceneCON parties. Please take this very seriously, because if you'll
be caught damaging the building, you'll find yourself at the Police station nearby in minutes. No excuses, no prior warnings.
And thanks to the afterparty troubles we had, we'll pay extra attention on this. Don't try your luck.
Again, just respect Hungarian law, and you won't have trouble.
- No kitchen equipment or other weirdo devices are allowed to be connected to the electric network. The only exceptions
from this rule are: fans, because we expect a quite warm weather during the party. But overloading
the network will result in a power outtage, and you really don't want to cause that. We mean it...
- The organizers are not responsible for any equipment you bring to the party. Luckily, there was no theft
or intentionally damaged equipment at Hungarian parties since years, and we'd like to keep it that way.
- We would like to notify the problematic people again: we have security cams at the place, so all your misbehavior
is recorded. So even if we don't discover it at the party, we will find you later. Promised.
